Hazra Okem Bio: Grant Writing Training Facilitator & Consultant M&E
Hazra Okem is a professional Trainer on Proposal & Grant writing for companies and non-profit organizations. She holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Petroleum, Energy Economics and Finance from the University of Aberdeen (UK).
Currently Ms. Hazra Okem is the CEO for Seniorer Uden Graenser- Uganda. Over the years, she has worked with various non- profit organizations in Uganda and partnered with others in sub-Saharan Africa. For over a decade Ms. Hazra has amassed multipronged skills in grants writing, Resource mobilization, and built partnerships with other likeminded institutions across the world.
Hazra’s innovations have propelled her to share these skills and become a go-to expert to support the crucial component of any thriving organization or company. Her expertise lies in guiding organizations through the entire process of grant acquisition, starting from identifying funding opportunities to developing persuasive proposals and managing successful grant projects. She believes that for any institution to be sustainable and independent, the department charged with this role should be invest in growing their writing skills and deviate from outsourcing of individuals to play this role.
Hazra together with her colleagues at Houston Executive Consulting, have designed a proposal and Grant Writing Training Course. The course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively write proposals and grants for their organizations. It covers topics such as understanding the grant writing process, conducting needs assessments, developing a compelling case for support, creating a budget, and building relationships with potential funders.
The training course is tailored for both beginners and experienced grant writers, providing a comprehensive overview of best practices and strategies for success. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from Hazra’s extensive experience and gain practical insights through interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises.
By the end of the course, participants will have the tools and confidence to craft persuasive proposals and grant applications that effectively communicate their organization’s mission, goals, and impact. They will also have a deeper understanding of the funding landscape and how to identify and approach potential funders.

This involves collecting, tracking, and analyzing data to assess the value and impact of different programs and interventions, as well as translate these assessments into actionable insights and strategies to increase the impact of an organization.
