Fire Safety Management Training Course in Uganda

Course Description

Fire Safety Management at a Workplace is very key for the safety of employees, and the organizational property. The management of fire risks is a fundamental responsibility for every employer.

For many employers, it is possibly their primary occupational safety and health requirement. A serious fire could destroy a business, but it could also result in the deaths of many innocent people.

Effective fire management is a staged process. The stages are logical and small steps can effectively reduce the risks. Close cooperation between workers, employers, and governments is essential for the successful prevention and control of fire at the workplace.

What will I be able to do?

One of the major objectives of this training is to provide the right skills necessary for workplace fire safety management and prevention.

At the end of the course the participants will:

• Understand the requirements and guidance documents for Means of Escape requirements for Existing Organizations or Factories
• Have knowledge and understanding of why these Means of Escape requirements are necessary to ensure that people can safely evacuate the building in the event of a fire. We will consider this from a first principle approach.
• Be familiar with some of the more common problems that you are likely to come across during workplace safety inspections and evacuation protocols.

The Fire Safety Training Course is designed to cover the different key topics as well as to raise awareness of fire hazards in the workplace. Participants are equipped with skills on how to act safely in the event of an emergency fire situation, including selecting & using the correct fire extinguisher. The course is also designed to train staff in your fire safety procedures, emergency exits, and how to respond to the different categories of fires.

Our fire safety training has a duration of at least 2 days with a ratio of 40% theory to 60% practical. These may include PowerPoint presentations, group exercises, breakout sessions (discussions), videos, and practical fire safety and prevention simulations. Participants will extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher, they will also evacuate a building guided by procedure and alert others as recommended.

How Often Should Businesses Provide Fire Safety Training?

Fire safety training should start with induction training on the first day and continue in the form of regular refresher training. It’s important to keep knowledge up to date and front of mind, too.

At least once a year provide refresher fire safety training sessions to make sure that they remain familiar with the fire safety arrangements for the workplace and are reminded of the action to be taken if there is a fire.

Training should be more frequent if:

• You have a high turnover of staff
• Your people are responsible for the safety of hotel guests, vulnerable residents, or patients
• There is a high risk of fire.

Any members of staff who have particular responsibilities in respect of fire safety management – that’s supervisory or specialist roles as listed below, should receive detailed instruction in their duties and refresher training every 6 months.
