Get the best knowledge about wrongful dismissal. In Uganda wrongful dismissal occurs when an employee is dismissed by an employer in breach of the oral or written terms of an employment contract. The dismissal can be an actual or constructive dismissal.

The most common example is a failure to give the employee the correct length of contractual or statutory notice. Cases of wrongful dismissal also occur if an employee is dismissed without adequate compensation in lieu of notice.

To avoid an unfair dismissal claim, learn what the law requires especially where the employer must have a fair reason to dismiss, and to ensure that the decision to dismiss is fair in all the circumstances (this entails following a fair process).
